"When i asked him why he stated that he had to eat a graham cracker for lunch because his account was low.He stated that he originally was given his favorite, cheese dippers and the cafeteria lady yelled loud enough for others to hear"Does jedidiah have any money on his account. "I am assuming the response was that he had only $1.00 which is what Caf prepay states.Jedidiah states that his food was taken from him and he was given 2 graham crackers, an applesauce and some milk. As i am sure you are aware i am very disturbed by this.In january of 2011 i had a meeting with vice principal rae anne turlington regarding the school cafeteria procedures and conversations i have had with the staff.This was a result of my son receiving erroneous stickers on his shirt stating that he owed money when in fact his account balance was positive $50.00.When i went to check with the cafeteria about his balance i was told"Maam if you have anything at home that you can scrape together if he doesn have money for lunch please just send it with him because i would hate to have to give him a graham cracker for lunch. "Obviously this was irrelevant because his account wasn't overdrawn at the time.I spoke to the vice principal about this and told that the comment was out of line and that if my sons account was in the negative he would receive either a regular lunch and i would be billed for it or he would get a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.I was also told that the cafeteria would be spoken to about this.Lancaster Sent 11:44 AM Attn:Patuxent Australia elementary school, I have Weddingdresses not received any response in regards to this matter.Lancaster I too have experienced this with my own children who attended dowell in the past.We now home school our children for a plethura of reasons.Pay the school a visit and be your son's advocate;No one there at the school will be.Make certain that you are given the names you ask for and an actual print out of your son's lunch account and comb it over with a fine tooth comb.Public servants are paid with your tax dollars and you have the right to meet with principal and should he/she not answer your requests in a suitable time frame, the board is your next step.The squeaky wheel will get the grease and don't for one minute feel bad about nagging them until your are satisfied with their handling of this and response. I have to ask this mother why did she continue to have her son 'buy"Lunch when she should have had him take a bag lunch.I would have done that after the first incident.If you can prove that you had money then i would say sue the school.The way to prove there was money would be to go back to the last check you wrote to the school for lunch money and verify that the check was deposited via a bank account statement.Then count how many days that should have covered him for lunch.If you did go over in lunch money then all i can say is apply for aid with regards to reduced or free lunch.It is not fair for the school cafeteria or teachers for that matter to provide a lunch for your kid.That is your job to provide clothing, shelter, medical and food not the schools job.They are suppose to be there teaching our kids not raising them. The sticker is unnecessary and humiliating.The account balance was apparently wrong and jedidiah didn't get to eat his favorite"Cheese dippers" (Whatever those are).It sounds like ms.Lancaster has reason to complain to the school and is owed an apology, but sue them?The boy was at least given something to eat for lunch, which is more than can be said for countless children throughout the world.Where do you scholars think the money for a trial and any settlement would come from?Your tax dollars. I understand being upset because you feel your son was"Mistreated", but let's not forget that rules are established based on experience.Having been a public school employee there are always others that ruin it for everyone;Yes i'm referring to the parents who continuously let their child's lunch fund run low while expecting the school to just hand out free lunches.We are all aware of the budget cuts that have taken place, but you can't honestly expect the schools to hand out free lunches to every kid who forgets their lunch or has no funds.And honestly, nutritional wise graham crackers, applesauce and milk are better for your child than those so called cheese dippers.If a nutritional lunch is what you value for your child, then you better start packing him a lunch on a daily basis.For someone to be so up in arms over this entire situation it seems like you should really reevaluate the entire issue.Don't beat up the school because they have established sticker reminders for every student who goes their when their lunch funds run low;They are not out to just get jedidiah lancaster(Which obviously you are extremely concerned about his privacy at school, yet post it for all of southern maryland to read)? !? !And those of you saying sue the schoolwhat are you suing for.Oh that's right, nothing because there is no legality issue here to be sought after.People need to settle down, stop taking everything so personal;So what, your kid didn't get his cheese dippers for lunch and all the kids in the cafeteria heard the lunch lady say his account was low.I bet they all ran home and told their parents what a loser jedidiah was for his mom not keeping his account balance higher, oh wait his mom told everyone on baynet instead. Cafe prepay is the best thing.I go on there and check what my daughter has for lunch everyday.You can load the child's account write from the comfort of your home and you do not have to worry whether or not the money got there.It is our responsibility as a parent to make sure our children have lunch money.When you go out to lunch and your debit card does not work do you expect to get food on an iou?I would be upset too.But more at myself for allowing my child's account to be depleted.As they say, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.And do the kids make fun of the others for a sticker informing the parents of a fundraiser night at a local restaurant?Oh my. Um yes, i did read the article. The parent states there was $1.00 in the account on June 7th and she's asking what the balance was on June 7th.In january 2011 she is alleging that the school showed an account balance in the negative, when there was $50 in the account.
